Grace Hopper was born Dec 9, 1906 in New York City, New York. She later died in Jan 01, 1992 in Arlington Virginia. She did alot for future technology while working in the US Navy, she was on of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark 1. As well as developing the first compiler (predecessor to the COBOL) for a computer programming language, (she was credited with being a developer of the COBOL). She had also conceptualized the idea of machine independent programming languages. This then led to COBOL, one of the first modern programming languages. An interesting thing about her is that she created the popular term "debugging", when fixing a computer.
He impact also effected some of the early English language programming languages.
While developing Grace worked with different systems such as the FLOW-MATIC, MATH-MATIC, and ARITH-MATIC.
